Mario Kart Love Song

Category: beauty, favorite, lyrics — Viannah @ 08:27:59

SONG: Mario Kart Love Song
BY: Sam Hart

You be my princess
I’ll be your toad
I’ll follow behind you
on rainbow road
Protect you from red shells
wherever we go
I promise.

No one will touch us
if we pick up a star
And if you spin out
you can ride in my car
When we slide together
we generate sparks
in our wheels and our hearts

CHORUS:
The finish line
is just around the bend
I’ll pause this game
so our love will never end
Let’s go again

The blue shell is coming
so I’ll go ahead
If you hang behind
it’ll hit me instead
but never look back
cause I’m down but not dead
I’ll catch up to you

Don’t worry about
Bowser or DK
Eat this glowing mushroom
and they’ll all fade away

Chorus x2

to the mushroom cup
and the flower cup
and the star cup
and the reverse cup

walalalalala
walalalalalawaluigiiiiii

This made me cry.

“Winter Song” lyrics

Category: lyrics — Viannah @ 05:12:59

SONG: Winter Song
BY: Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson

This is my winter song to you.
The storm is coming soon,
it rolls in from the sea.

My voice: a beacon in the night.
My words will be your light
to carry you to me.

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love…

They say that things just cannot grow
beneath the winter snow,
or so I have been told.

They say we’re buried far,
just like a distant star
I simply cannot hold.

Is love alive? (x3)

This is my winter song.
December never felt so wrong,
cause you’re not where you belong;
inside my arms.

I still believe in summer days.
The seasons always change
and life will find a way.

Ill be your harvester of light
and send it out tonight
so we can start again.

Is love alive? (x3)

This is my winter song.
December never felt so wrong,
’cause you’re not where you belong:
inside my arms.

This is my winter song to you.
The storm is coming soon
it rolls in from the sea.

My love a beacon in the night.
My words will be your light
to carry you to me.

Is love alive? (x17)

Some interesting stuff, mostly for my own benefit.

Twilight slash fiction — from FanFiction.net in English, rated M.
Datlow/Windling fairytale series — an Amazon.com book list.
Obama’s big plan — video and text of the Great Investment (plan).
Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog — seems self-explanatory.
GypsyMaps — New York subway and bus maps on a more accurate map than the one the MTA provides. Stupid Manhattan-centric people.

“Iron Man” review

Category: entertainment, recap/review — Viannah @ 06:40:45

Official | Wikipedia | IMDb | Amazon

I’m late to the train on this one, I know, but I was a little miffed by all the great press Iron Man received when it first came out in theaters, so I never bothered to see it. My sister raved about it, but since I’m a contrarian, that just made me want to see it less, not more.

Well, tonight I finally gave in and watched it. I must say, it lives up to its hype. I don’t know much about Iron Man in the comics, and I don’t follow any Marvel heroes regularly (aside from a couple obscure X-Men), but I was pleasantly surprised with this rendition of Tony Stark. Robert Downey, Jr., is a lovely, lovely man [cough*eyecandy*cough], for starters, and he’s a great fit for the character. He’s self-assured, cocky, and just plain rich, but in the end, he’s still a good guy. Over all, the movie is well-paced and not too mushy/romantic/sappy. Stark’s love interest is his secretary, Pepper Potts, and there’s not even a kiss between them in the entire movie—a good thing, let me assure you. It’s understood that Stark is a playboy and beds plenty of women, but the one close to his heart is the one who “takes out the trash” in the morning (an awesome comeback on Pepper’s part early in the movie, by the way).

The main baddie is Obadiah Stane, a man who stood in for Stark and held Stark Industries together while Tony got his act together after graduating from MIT at age 17. Unfortunately, the power’s gone to his head and he tries to take out the main character more than once before the movie is over. In the end, he loses. Duh. I won’t tell you how, though I’m sure if you’re reading this you’ve already seen the movie.

Anyway, one thing is for sure: I want a suit that lets me fly, too. [insert childish tantrum here] I’m pleased to say that Iron Man redeems Hollywood from some of its poorer comic movies. If you’re looking for a good show all around, this one is on the list.

What is vertigo?

Category: favorite, words — Viannah @ 16:47:28

Anyone whose goal is ’something higher’ must expect someday to suffer vertigo. What is vertigo? Fear of falling? No, Vertigo is something other than fear of falling. It is the voice of the emptiness below us which tempts and lures us, it is the desire to fall, against which, terrified, we defend ourselves.

“This Side” lyrics

Category: lyrics — Viannah @ 13:49:59

SONG: This Side
BY: Nickel Creek

One day you’ll see her and you’ll know what I mean.
Take her or leave her; she will still be the same.
She’ll not try to buy you with her time.
But nothing’s the same, as you will see when she’s gone.

It’s foreign on this side,
And I’ll not leave my home again.
There’s no place to hide
And I’m nothing but scared.

You dream of colors that have never been made,
You imagine songs that have never been played.
They will try to buy you and your mind.
Only the curious have something to find.

It’s foreign on this side,
And the truth is a bitter friend.
But reasons few have I to go back again.

Your first dawn blinded you, left you cursing the day.
Entrance is crucial and it’s not without pain.
There’s no path to follow, once you’re here.
You’ll climb up the slide, and then you’ll slide down the stairs.

It’s foreign on this side,
But it feels like I’m home again.
There’s no place to hide
But I don’t think I’m scared.

(There’s no place to hide.)
(There’s no place to hide.)
But I don’t think I’m scared.
(There’s no place to hide.)
But I don’t think I’m scared…
